Janet Williams, born in the United Kingdom. She studied in Middlesex Polytechnic in 1979 and got Bachelor of Art,and got Post-Graduate Diploma in Ceramics, in the University of London, Goldsmith's College, in 1988, and got Master of Fine Art in 1991 in Cranbrook Academy of Art, Ceramics. Since 2008, she has been an associate Professor of Art, Ceramics Area Coordinator in Department of Art & Art History, University of North Carolina–Charlotte.
